The issue with making your hobby your job

I've been in love with technology since I can remember... Hosting Minecraft servers with friends, and programming Arduino's to make cool projects. All of this culminated in me getting a job as a DevOps engineer after finishing college. And now after about 1,5 years, I'm faced with some weird effects on my personal life.

Since working in tech full time, I've lost a lot of drive for doing my own technical projects. And while the ideation and creative aspects are still there. I'm just unable to focus on the technical aspects. This in turn drives me to do more art related stuff. In most scenarios this is fine. However, sometimes I get an idea that just sounds great... And then I cannot implement it because I'm exhausted.

And that stuff just stresses me out. Because once I have that idea. It's really hard for me to forget about it. Maybe journalling is the way to save these ideas for a later date. After all, I always get the urge to do technical things whenever I'm on a holiday.

Anyways, rant over!
